In the past few weeks, several researchers and staff of the Bureau of Economic Geology received accolades for their distinguished research and service from industry publishers, The University of Texas at Austin, and from the Bureau itself.

The Bureau of Economic Geology honored the first authors of papers published in 2020, the authors of the year’s best papers, and others deserving special recognition at the 2021 First Author Publications Awards ceremony.

Over 110 industry scientists from 19 companies attended MSRL’s annual series of technical talks and short courses, which covered fluid flow modeling and experimental results as well as reservoir architecture and attributes of important formations in the Midland and Delaware Basins.

The Bureau of Economic Geology is excited to announce the return of Dr. Lorena Moscardelli to its ranks as the Principal Investigator of the State of Texas Advanced Resource Recovery (STARR) program.

The Bureau of Economic Geology’s Bob Loucks and Shirley Dutton have compiled a comprehensive database for evaluating and forecasting reservoir quality (porosity and permeability), and for documenting mineralogy, grain size, and pore types, in the northern Gulf of Mexico onshore and offshore sandstones.
