Bureau associate director Eric Potter was honored by the Jackson School of Geosciences (JSG) for his “outstanding service to a unit, the School, the University, or the profession.” The award recognizes 15 years of leadership in building cooperation and camaraderie, and motivating his staff to conduct and publish exceptional research.

A 10-year-anniversary research symposium hosted by JSG in January celebrated both the creation of the Jackson School of Geosciences and its visionary founders Jack and Katie Jackson. 

To provide access to more core for more geoscientists, explorationists, and students, the Bureau recently partnered with Occidental Petroleum (OXY) to begin renovations at the Houston Researach Center's Core Layout and Viewing Area.
