The Bureau of Economic Geology’s Gulf Coast Carbon Center hosted the first International Workshop on Offshore Geologic CO2 Storage, including 2 days of collaborative discussions on carbon storage in offshore geologic reservoirs.

The Bureau hosted the inaugural international conference for the establishment of the International Soil Modeling Consortium (ISMC), whose mission is to integrate and advance soil systems modeling, data gathering, and observational capabilities.

The Bureau’s ongoing scientific collaboration with China continued recently with a fruitful trip to that country by Bureau director Scott Tinker and research scientists Hongliu Zeng, Svetlana Ikonnikova, and Tongwei Zhang.

Twenty-five Bureau volunteers gave back to the community on March 29th in a day of service at Great Hills Park in Austin, restoring a wildflower area and improving trails. Work included clearing and hauling brush and small saplings to open space for wildflowers.
