Description

Geotechnical engineering has played a crucial role in supporting offshore structures in the energy industry, particularly in the oil and gas sector for many years. However, with the increasing demand for renewable energy, the offshore wind industry now requires more advanced engineering solutions. This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of offshore geotechnical engineering, including past oil and gas projects and current renewable energy projects. Moreover, the presentation will also highlight the significance of conducting risk assessments during the engineering design phase to prevent possible foundation failure. Qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methods will be introduced, including the Bayesian Network Model (BNM) to quantify probabilities from interconnected threats and consequences.
