Description

This presentation will explore the geological, operational, and commercial fundamentals of underground gas storage and provide attendees with a “crash course” in storage basics. From depleted reservoirs to salt caverns, from natural gas to refined liquid, and from midstream operators to utilities, this presentation will address how underground storage facilities are developed, how and why they are operated, and how this facet of the energy industry is utilized globally to provide energy reliability to gas distribution systems, electric grids, and petrochemical infrastructure. Specifically, the role of natural gas storage in the U.S. will be used as a case study for the usage of commercial storage at scale, providing an extremely practical example of what drives successful adoption of storage through commercial success and demand market support.
