Leandro Melani is a Petrophysicist Postdoctoral Fellow in the STARR program at the Bureau of Economic Geology. Currently, Leandro is dedicated to investigating petrophysical characterization of salt formations for subsurface hydrogen storage, which has important implications for advancing research on energy transition. Leandro earned his PhD (2019) in Petroleum Engineering from University of Campinas (Brazil). His research focused on petrophysical analysis, with an emphasis on fracture and karst/vug characterization from image log, and borehole-based stratigraphic/cyclicity analysis of post- and pre-salt carbonate reservoirs of Campos and Santos basins (Brazil). Leandro holds a BS (2013) in Geology from Federal University of Parana (Brazil) and MS (2015) in Petroleum Engineering from University of Campinas (Brazil).
