Chock Woodruff: Meet a Geoscientist

 
Charles "Chock" M. Woodruff, Jr. is a geologist with more than five decades of experience in engineering geology, hydrogeology, environmental geology, and land-use planning, with particular expertise in Central Texas and the Balcones Escarpment. He is a geologist at the Bureau of Economic Geology at The University of Texas at Austin and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering, where he teaches graduate-level engineering geology. Dr. Woodruff holds a Ph.D. in geology from UT Austin and has led or contributed to more than 650 consulting projects through Woodruff Geologic Consulting, Inc., including environmental assessments, expert testimony, and geologic support for major infrastructure and land-development decisions. His work includes extensive geologic mapping, research on the Edwards Aquifer and geothermal resources, and numerous publications and field guides focused on the geology, hydrology, and geoheritage of Texas.
