TORA meeting

The Tight Oil Resource Assessment (TORA) research consortium recently hosted representatives from its sponsor organizations at the Bureau of Economic Geology for a program review and in-depth discussion of its activities and plans.  47 individuals participated both in person and online for what proved to be an enlightening day of talks and interaction.

Presentations covered a range of topics ranging in scale from single section to multi-basin comparison. There was significant interest in presentations on the deeper stratigraphic levels (Barnett and Woodford shales) within the Permian Basin, particularly in regard to the petrophysical models used in analyzing those intervals.

The Bureau’s Tight Oil Resource Assessment program is the leading academic entity researching U.S. unconventional resource plays and their production capabilities, developing a basin-wide and granular-scale understanding of key factors controlling current and future developments. For more information on TORA, or to join, please contact Tim McMahon, principal investigator.
