The Bureau of Economic Geology is excited to announce Austin Earth Science Zoomerama 2020, a fun, educational video series airing live throughout October.  Zoomerama will teach middle-school and high-school students about the Earth sciences and careers in geoscience as well as introduce them to real-world scientists.

Professionals from industry, government agencies, geological societies, non-profits, and our academic partners will cover a wide range of geoscience subjects over the course of 14 concise and informative sessions. Our Zoomerama website will include links to hands-on activities that can be downloaded and completed in the classroom or at home, and both live and on-demand taped presentations will be offered.

For the past 20 years, professional presenters have provided face-to-face interaction between students and geoscientists during the Bureau of Economic Geology’s annual Austin Earth Science Week Career Day. This year, because of the pandemic, the Bureau will continue its support of students, teachers, and parents by offering free web resources and virtual live sessions. Our primary goal is to increase students’ understanding of Earth science topics and careers.

Registration is required. For a complete schedule, additional information, and registration, visit our registration page. For questions about the series, please contact Bureau Information Geologist Linda Ruiz McCall.

We hope that you will be able to join us during October for the fascinating geoscience presentations of Austin Earth Science Zoomerama 2020! Please share Zoomerama with any educators you know!
