TCCS 2018 First Biannual Research Meeting

May 22, 2018

More than 60 people, including representatives from eight sponsor companies, attended the Spring Sponsor Meeting of the Texas Consortium for Computational Seismology (TCCS) in Houston on April 19 and 20. The meeting was hosted by the Bureau's Houston Research Center. Fifteen research presentations by TCCS staff covered such topics as full waveform inversion, high-resolution seismic imaging, deconvolution, and machine learning in application to seismic inversion and interpretation. Lei Huang (Prairie View A&M University) and Clement Kostov (Schlumberger) gave invited presentations. TCCS PI Sergey Fomel presided over the event.

TCCS is a joint initiative of the Bureau of Economic Geology and the Center for Numerical Analysis at UT Austin’s Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES). Its mission is to address the most important and challenging research problems in computational geophysics confronting the energy industry while educating the next generation of research geophysicists and computational scientists.
