Description

Sedimentary brines in North America contain vast quantities of lithium and are a potentially viable resource to address growing demand in the coming decade.  While vast, lithium concentrations in brines are low compared to conventional sources such as salars and granitic pegmatites, increasing the cost of recovery and processing.  Successfully developing sedimentary brine lithium resources will require extraction and concentration technologies that are durable, highly selective, rapid, and environmentally sustainable.  In this talk, I will discuss current challenges and the solutions needed to successfully develop these resources.
