TCCS convenes Spring research review at Houston Research Center

May 4, 2016

Nearly 60 people, including representatives from eight sponsor companies, attended the Spring meeting of the Texas Consortium for Computational Seismology (TCCS) in Houston on April 13–15. More than 20 research presentations were given by TCCS staff, including the consortium’s Principal Investigator Dr. Sergey Fomel, and invited speakers, including Professors Rui Zhang (University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and Hejun Zhu (UT Dallas). Topics included seismic interpretation, full waveform inversion, time-lapse seismic, seismic anisotropy, and high-resolution microseismic imaging. The third day of the meeting was devoted to tutorials on Madagascar open-source software and uncertainty quantification using Bayesian inversion.

The mission of the TCCS is to address the most important and challenging research problems in computational geophysics as experienced by the energy industry, while educating the next generation of research geophysicists and computational scientists.
