Bureau Hosts Scientific Exchange at Spring TCCS Sponsor Meeting
The Bureau of Economic Geology’s Houston Research Center recently hosted the Spring 2025 Sponsor Meeting of the Texas Consortium for Computational Seismology (TCCS). The Spring TCCS Sponsor Meeting continues to serve as a vital forum for advancing computational and applied geophysics while strengthening ties between academic researchers and industry partners. The event brought together nearly 80 participants, including representatives from seven sponsoring companies, for two days of focused scientific exchange and collaboration.
The meeting featured 20 technical presentations highlighting recent innovations in full-waveform inversion, land seismic processing, advanced seismic monitoring techniques, and high-resolution seismic modeling using finite-element methods. The program also showcased the growing collaboration between TCCS and the GeoH2 consortium in preparation for the Bureau’s upcoming hydrogen test at its Devine Test Site, as well as planning for upcoming dark fiber monitoring studies along the Gulf Coast.
Invited talks were delivered by Professor Hongyu Sun (UT-El Paso) and Professor Jonathan Ajo-Franklin (Rice University), who shared insights from their cutting-edge research on elastic modeling and fiber-optic sensing applications.
