Exercise:
Evaluating Water Cemistry Changes through Rw Mapping
The map
displays the basin troughs and highs. Seismic mapping indicates that northeast-to-southwest-trending
faults exist within the basin. Use this information to answer the following
questions:
- Do the changes
in water character aid in indicating where a northeast-to-southwest-trending
fault may be located? Draw in the fault.
- These faults form
in conjugate pairs. Do the changes in water character indicate a second
sealing fault? Where? Draw in the fault.
- Over distance,
formation water can display a salinity gradient. Draw in resistivity
contours where a gradient appears.
