A
3-D seismic image of Gulf Coast thin-bed fluvial channels. The data
represent reflection amplitude values on a stratal
surface that passes through the targeted thin-bed system. When a
stratal surface is correctly defined, subtle stratigraphic features
created at the depositional time represented by the stratal surface
are often revealed with clarity, as in this example which shows a meandering
channel system in the lower right quadrant of the image, and a narrow
channel cutting across the upper right quadrant.
