Abstract

The mission of The Nature Conservancy is to conserve the lands and waters on which all life depends. Our vision is a world where the diversity of life thrives, and people act to conserve nature for its own sake and its ability to fulfill our needs and enrich our lives.  The Nature Conservancy of Texas’ freshwater program works toward this vision by focusing on three areas: water policy, place, and science. This seminar will provide an overview of our freshwater initiatives. Included will be a brief introduction to the Texas Water Explorer, a new website resource for water planners, as well as a short description of a subset of our preserves and projects (Devils River, Love Creek, Caddo Lake), with comments on our work on groundwater and environment flows.
