The shale volume - or volume of clay (Vclay) - can now be estimated from the GI using the following formulas:

Vclay = 0.33*[2^(2*GI)-1] (consolidated ss)

Vclay = .083*[2^(3.7*GI) -1] (unconsolidated ss)

Based on the GI calculated in the previous step, use the calculator to determine the Vclay at the specified depths.

NOTE: For this exercise we will use the consolidated sandstone model
