This training module introduces and reviews each of the major carbonate depositional environments in the platform interior. Another module entitled “Platform-Margin, Slope and Basinal Carbonate Depositional Environments” introduces and reviews the major depositional environments of the platform margin, slope, and basin.

At the completion of this module, the student will be able to:

1. Understand the physical, biological, and chemical processes that affect platform interior sedimentation.

2. Be familiar with the major platform interior environments of deposition.

3. Recognize the rock types that are a product of platform interior carbonate depositional environments.
