This training module introduces and reviews each of the major carbonate depositional environments in the platform interior. Module 3, entitled “Platform-Margin, Slope, and Basinal Carbonate Depositional Environments,” introduces and reviews major depositional environments of the platform margin, slope, and basin.

At the completion of this module, the student will be able to

1. understand the physical, biological, and chemical processes that affect platform interior sedimentation;

2. recognize major platform-interior environments of deposition; and

3. recognize rock types that are a product of platform-interior carbonate depositional environments.
