GCCC senior researcher Susan Hovorka’s video seminar provides an overview of several carbon capture and storage commercial deployment projects in the U.S. and what remains to be done before CCS can reach large scale deployment in the U.S.
From Dr. Hovorka:
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a mature and effective mechanism for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by decarbonizing fossil fuels. Although this technology has not (yet?) been implemented on a large scale, dozens of successful diverse deployments of commercial projects in the U.S. and globally illustrate technological maturity. I will provide an overview of this progress and show examples of research questions remaining.
