Bureau scientist
Susan D. Hovorka will present "Evaluation of Brine-Bearing Sands
of the Frio Formation, Upper Texas Gulf Coast, for Geologic Sequestration
of CO2" at the First National Conference
on Carbon Sequestration to be held May 1417, 2001, in Washington,
D.C.
This research
is the result of collaboration between the Bureau and a team led
by the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to explore the many
aspects of geologic sequestration as a mechanism for the reduction
of atmospheric emission of greenhouse gases. Sue's co-authors
are C. Doughty, K. Pruess, and S. M. Benson of Lawrence Berkeley
National Lab; Paul R. Knox of the Bureau of Economic Geology;
and C. T. Green of the University of California, Hydrologic Sciences.
