Research Interests
Petrophysical evaluation by integration data

Formation of mechanical properties tied to geophysical studies

Shinichi joined the Bureau in Summer 2000 when he took retirement from ARCO Technology and Operation Services in Plano, Texas. He is applying his skills as a petrophysicist to a joint Bureau-Pemex basin analysis study.

After graduation from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1971, Shinichi spent three years in Southeast Asia conducting core analysis and well site work. He then worked on advanced core analysis technology, moving to London to set up a new SCAL laboratory. His next assignment was supervisor for petrophysical evaluation group.

He joined BP (Sohio Oil and Gas Co.) in San Francisco and worked on many North Slope projects. In 1990, he moved to Plano, Texas to work for ARCO Oil and Gas Company. His interests included applying integrated skills for reservoir description and exploration studies; creating petrophysical models by integrating core, mud log, formation pressure, and wireline logs; helping to acquire exploration leases, including bypassed pay prospects; and setting up a logging program, together with work as well-site petrophysicist.
