General Instructions: How to Use Surface Casing Information Tools
Find a Location (Navigation Tools):
By manual
zooming and panning:
1. Use the Zoom In tool to zoom
to desired area of map
2. When zoomed in, well names and lease names will
appear on map
3. The Pan tool is used to move
the map.
4. TheZoom Out tool is used
to view a larger area
By using
the Zoom to Latitude/Longitude button:
1. Click the Zoom to Lat / Long
button
2. Enter Latitude and Longitude (using decimal degrees)
3. Click the “Zoom” button
4. Map will zoom to and place a marker at the desired
location
Obtain Casing Information for a Location (Casing Tools):
1. Click
on the Casing Data tool button
2. Click on the location in the map.
3. A window appears in bottom frame with approximate
casing depths for that location.
4. Print information using the “Print Form”
button at the bottom of the casing information frame.
Find Specific Well Locations:
Using
the Find Tool
1. Click the Find Features button
2. Enter text in input box
3. Click “Find”
4. Any wells found with the text in any of their fields
will be highlighted.
Using the Query tool
1. Make the “Q Wells” Map Layer active
by clicking the radio button next to “Q Wells” in the table
of contents
2. Click the Query button
3. In the query frame that appears in the bottom frame,
enter the Q-Number of the desired well in the value form.
4. Click the “Add to Query String” button.
5. Click the “Execute” button
6. If well is found, it will be highlighted in yellow
on the map.
View Well Logs:
1. Click the View Well Log button
2. Click on any red (non-Salt Water Disposal well)
well location
3. Name of well will appear in bottom frame along with
a “View Log” button.
4. Press “View Log” button to open image
of well log in new window
Zoom In: Click and drag on an area of the map to zoom in.
Casing Data: Click on any point on the map to obtain casing depth information. Scroll down information window to see all information. Print form for Casing Information Page appears at bottom.
