I am a Geologic Data Analyst at the Bureau of Economic Geology (BEG). Before coming to the BEG in 2015, I spent three years optimizing production and completion design at Baker Hughes, and a previous three years performing environmental remediation and ecological research for the National Science Foundation. I am active in the Houston Geological Society and was awarded its 2014-2015 Rising Star Award. I hold a MS in Geological Sciences from Baylor University and BS in Geological Sciences from the University of Arkansas.
My research interests are data mining and database analyses. Historically, I have performed data mining and database analyses for the purpose of optimizing extraction of oil and gas from the reservoir. Recently, I have expanded the purpose to include natural and potentially induced seismic sources, such as wastewater injection wells.
I work with an interdisciplinary group of scientists in several project groups. I am project manager and RSA III for the Center for Integrated Seismicity Research (CISR). CISR – together with the State-funded TexNet earthquake monitoring program, is focused on the integrative study of natural and induced earthquakes within the State of Texas. TexNet+CISR is co-led by Peter Hennings (BEG), Ellen Rathje (UT Civil Engineering), and Alexandros Savvaidis (BEG).
The second group I work with is the Permian Basin Tight Oil Resource Assessment (TORA) consortium, analyzing production and completion practices of tight oil plays within the Midland and Delaware Basins. TORA is led by Mark Walsh and Eric Potter.
The third group I work with is the Shale Basin Outlook team, led by Svetlana Ikonnikova. The Shale Basin Outlook team analyzes shale plays in the United States for multivariate co-dependencies and provides economic prospects according to completion and drilling practices. After the 2015 oil and gas downturn, I was hired by Svetlana as a temporary employee, and eight months later was granted full-time employment with the BEG.
In my spare time, I enjoy caving and playing softball, kickball, sand volleyball, and soccer in social sports leagues. I also volunteer for Austin Pets Alive!
