MSRL Convenes 2017 Annual Meeting

March 30, 2017
MSLR Poster Session

The Bureau’s Mudrock Systems Research Laboratory held its annual meeting in March, which attracted 70 geoscientists representing the 20 companies who are active members of the consortium. The program included 40 oral and poster presentations covering a range of subjects, including stratigraphy, pore systems, petrophysics, hydrocarbon saturation, and flow modeling; six core workshop presentations, including cores from the Eagle Ford, Austin, Barnett, Wolfcamp, and Pearsall; and a day-long short course on the geology, petrophysics, and flow characteristics of mudrock systems.

Associate Director for Energy Mark Shuster greeted members and discussed the Bureau’s diverse program on oil- and gas-systems research; and Director Scott W. Tinker shared his insights into the current state of the industry, funding for research, and the Bureau’s role in supporting industry needs. The Bureau’s Media and IT groups assisted with presentations and materials for the meeting, and Sammy Jacobo handled all logistics.
