Research Scientist Dr. Steve Ruppel has been awarded the AAPG Wallace E. Pratt Memorial Award for his paper titled "Contrasting Styles in Reservoir Development in Proximal and Distal Chert Facies: Devonian Thirtyone Formation, Texas," co-authored by Roger Barnaby (currently with ExxonMobil in Houston) and published in the AAPG Bulletin in January 2001. The Award is to honor and reward the author(s) of the best AAPG Bulletin article published each calendar year. The paper was based on regional and local studies of chert reservoirs in the Permian Basin undertaken for the University of Texas System as part of the University Lands Advanced Recovery Project. The authors will receive their award at the Annual meeting of the AAPG in Salt Lake City in May 2003.
