Texas Integrated Water Simulation System

ABSTRACT
The Center for Research in Water Resources (CRWR) has begun a cooperative effort with the Texas Water Resources Institute at Texas A&M University to form a Texas Watershed Management Consortium. The goal of this Consortium is to improve water management in Texas by better integration of hydrology simulation models and supporting databases in a Texas Integrated Water Simulation System. At the heart of this system is a geospatial and temporal database called the ArcGIS Hydro data model, designed at CRWR. The intent is that each supporting simulation model can both receive data from and contribute data to the Arc Hydro database. Work at the Bureau of Economic Geology on groundwater modeling using Modflow and surface terrain analysis using LIDAR are potential modeling and data sources that could be linked to such a system.
