Fugro-Robertson Geology,
Gravity and Magnetics from Regional to Prospect Scale

Brian Anderson, Alex Blacque, Fugro Robertson Inc., LCT Gravity and Magnetics Division, Houston, TX.

Abstract:

This presentation will provide a review of gravity and magnetic geophysical exploration and their applications in the petroleum industry. The following topics will be addressed:

  1. Historical perspective and technical developments in Gravity and Magnetics
    • Data Acquisition
    • Data Processing
    • Interpretation
  2. Regional to prospect review of the US Gulf of Mexico
    • Tectonics, deep structure & Moho
    • Applications of 2D regional models for crustal boundary identification and integration with magnetics and 2D seismic data
    • 3D density model creation and editing
    • 3D integrated (wells-gravity-3D seismic) modeling including both inversion and forward modeling processes.
  3. Areas for future developments
    • Deep Structure Project
    • Onshore-offshore regional work
    • Global tectonics
