Pickle Research Campus (PRC)
Note:
The directions
given below lead you to the Braker Lane entrance of UT's J. J. Pickle
Research Campus, which during Code Yellow security status is open from
6 until 6 Mondays through Fridays. After hours and during times of Code
Orange (or higher) security status, the only open entrance is at 10100
Burnet Road. Burnet Road is the second light; turn right and go about
1/4 mile to the entrance on your right, and tell the guard that you
are going to Bureau of Economic Geology, Building 130. The guard will
give you further directions if you need them.
From
IH-35's Braker exit:
Go
west on Braker, continuing past the Lamar and Burnet intersections.
Shortly past Burnet Road, turn left into the entrance to the J.J. Pickle
Research Campus. Distance
from IH-35 is about 4 miles (6 km). Traveltime from Austin Bergtrom
Airport is about 30 minutes to an hour.
From
MoPac's (Loop 1) Braker exit:
Go
east on Braker and turn right into the entrance to the J.J. Pickle Research
Campus. The main campus entrance is approximately .25 miles down
Burnet Road on the right side. Distance
from MoPac exit is 1 mile (1.5 km).
From
Highway 183:
Coming from the east
or west, take the MoPac (Loop 1) North exit. Follow the directions above
for the MoPac (Loop 1) Braker exit. Travel time
from Austin Bergstrom Airport is about 25 to 45 minutes.
From
Loop 360/Capital of Texas Highway
Loop 360/Capital of Texas Highway deadends
into the MoPac access road; go north (left) at this intersection and
follow the exit to Braker Lane. Follow directions above for MoPac (Loop
1) Braker exit.
Parking:
Stop
at the Guard Station to obtain a Visitor's parking permit. The Bureau,
Building 130, is on the left (east) side of the street; the Exploration
Geophysics Lab, Building 131, is to the right of the street. Visitor
parking is located in the parking lots directly in front of both buildings.
Holders of UT's "A," "C," or "Disabled"
parking permits may park in either the north or the east lots.
