The Case for Energy Storage

Is energy storage financially viable? Learn about real-world business models that are financially and technically feasible. The session will cover storage technologies, costs, and case studies.

About the author
Daniel Crotzer is the President of Fractal, a firm that specializes in energy storage and renewable energy consulting. Fractal provides expert evaluation, technical design and financial analysis of energy storage and renewable energy projects. Fractal’s experience includes hands-on operation and management of 77 MW battery storage as well as consultant services that include technical design and financial analysis of: 678 MW battery storage, 402 MW mechanical storage and 662 MW of solar and wind.  

Formerly, Daniel was the Operations Center Manager at Xtreme Power. He directed the operation of 77 MW of energy storage and energy management systems across the world. While at Xtreme Power, he led the creation of the first power trading platform using battery energy storage. Prior to Xtreme Power, Daniel completed his MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. He was a Surface Nuclear Propulsion Officer for the US Navy onboard the USS George Washington (CVN-73) and the USS Samuel B Roberts (FFG-58). Daniel also has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the UT Austin.
