The middle reaches of Caņo Cocuinita, a typical blackwater caņo in the northwestern delta. Blackwater
streams are characterized by having low sediment but high tanic acid concentrations. Note that the entire
area is covered by low forest, which is common in the middle delta. Photograph taken in October 1998.
