Erosional coastline as indicated by a thin beach and the abundance of dead mangrove in the surf zone.

Also note that landward erosion has resulted in a thin belt of coastal mangrove. As is common along

many stretches of the Orinoco Delta coast, the mangrove coast is backed by extensive herbaceous marshes.
