Field Workshop Home

 

 

Participants will meet at Burlington House, London, at 10 am on Saturday, July 30, 2005 for an introductory lecture with the balance of the day in London free for visiting the Geological Museum and Natural History Museum.

 

The field group will depart from Euston Station, London via Caledonian Sleeper train at 7 p.m. on the evening of July 30th for Fort William, Scotland. The group will travel by van to Oban, via ferry and fishing boats to Precambrian glacial deposits of the Garvellachs, by van to Inverness then to Ullapool, the Moine Thrust Zone at Assynt, mapping near Cape Wrath in the far northwest Highlands, and volcanic and sedimentary rocks of Skye.

 

The group will return to London by Caledonian Sleeper on 13 August.
