Could the average Texan fill a swimming pool with
the water he or she uses in a year?
Yes, the average person in Texas uses approximately 125 gallons
of water per day. This includes water for drinking, bathing, cooking,
washing clothes, and irrigating lawns and landscapes. Multiply this 365
times and you get a sum of water equal to 45,625 gallons per year. This
is enough water to fill a swimming pool 25 feet wide by 50 feet long and
5 feet deep.
Something to think
about during the next Texas dry-spell.
