Some exploration
and production (E&P) drilling wastes are disposed of in
clay-lined, bermed, earthen pits at centralized and commercial
drilling-fluid disposal sites (CCDD sites) in Texas, Louisiana,
Oklahoma, and New Mexico.
This study
is a census, compilation, and summary of information on active
and inactive (including abandoned) sites in these four states.
Information includes number and acreage of pits, waste volume,
and levels of selected constituents in the waste and adjacent
soil and groundwater.
