Educational Seminar on the Electric Power Guide in Ghana

On July 13, 2005 the RCEER held an educational seminar on the Electric Power Industry in Ghana. The seminar marked the publication of the RCEER's "Guide to Electric Power in Ghana." The seminar has attracted over 50 representatives of the energy industry, various ministries and media (download list of attendees). The agenda of the seminar included remarks by the Minister of Energy, as well as presentations by colleagues from RCEER and CEE. The Energy Minister of Ghana opened the seminar with his introductory speech. The seminar was highlighted in the local media. This education seminar completes the list of activities planned to be conducted by the RCEER under the USAID's grant to CEE. The Center is now developing a work plan for its operation after the expiration of this grant. As outlines in Public Agenda newspaper of June 24 of this year, it is expected that the RCEER "will become an independent resource center for research, policy analysis, training, data and public education on energy and utility economics."

The seminar was highlighted in The Ghanaian Times, July 15, 2005
