These web pages use a series of clickable maps to zoom into an aerial photograph. These photos feature historical (1956) and future (2056) shorelines and erosion rates (feet/year) projected on top of the photographs. This allows users to find areas of interest in a geographic format. The resolution of the photographs allows the recognition of objects as small as streets and houses. These photos with projected shorelines and erosion have many possible applications. For example, a home owner can find out if they will still have beach front property in the future. Engineers can see the impact of man made structures on erosion rates. Beach Profiles On many of these maps a cross symbol is shown on the coast. These represent clickable icons for beach profiles. Beach profiles show the topography of the beach and dunes in a cross section oriented perpendicular to the shoreline. |
