Shoreline
Types
This link brings
you to an ArcIMS (Internet Map Server) site of shoreline types for the
Bolivar Peninsula and Jefferson County areas. It initially displays
all shorelines in that area. A list of more specific shorelines are
found on the right side of the screen. To activate these layers, click
a check mark next to the desired shoreline and then scroll to the bottom
of that frame and click "Refresh Map". The new layer(s) should
then appear. It is also possible to turn off layers in the same fashion.
You can also use some of the GIS features that are found in the tool
bar on the left side of the screen. For a description of each tool leave
your mouse cursor motionless over the button for a few seconds and its
name should pop up. These tools give the user many options, including,
ability to navigate about the map zooming in and out. It also has special
tools for searching, comparing and finding spatial information about
selected features. To use these tools it is necessary to make the layer
you are interested in active. This option is also found on the right
side of the screen, it appears as the radio button next to each layer..
These codes are specific to particular shoreline types. Some of these
codes are found in combination.
